Atelier II

During this Atelier project, I created two outfits based on experimenting and handwork, in contrast to working with a concept like I did in previous projects. This is the first outfit. I found inspiration by experimenting with embroidery and weaving techniques. This projects foundation is craftsmanship and recycling.

By cutting recycled plastic up into strips and weaving these in a plain weave with black wool yarn, I created a fabric that combines shiny with mat and hard with soft. The textile has been woven on a small loom and knotted together, creating a 3D texture.

The print is inspired by the texture of rope and screen printed onto a grey cotton and embellished with freestyle embroidery using different colors, sequins and beads.
