A Void Down Under

Several hundreds of meters deep in the ocean, she is kept imprisoned. Lonely and anonymous, she awaits her time, while the pulling movement of the water above her slowly destroys her. The crashing waves live above her, the sea’s abandonment washing away her identity. She is getting sucked up into the motion, into the roughness of the blue around her. For a while, it seems like she will never be found.

This project is inspired by The Dress found in the waters of Texel by Kaaps Kil. This dress is one of the oldest garments ever found in such a good state, with the luxurious silk preserved for 350 years under the ocean sand. With ideas ignited by the movement of the sea and the anonymity of the dress, I created a garment as a toile deluxe and in full color.
